Aloha Island opened in 1972 under the name the Veranda Juice Bar. The Juice Bar was originality considered part of the Adventureland Veranda restaurant but was eventually given its independence. From 1977 until 1981, the Veranda Juice Bar (and the Adventureland Veranda) were sponsored by Kikkoman, a Japanese soy sauce company. Although the Juice Bar had a Polynesian theme it did not have the pineapple influence that it would later have. In 1981 when Kikkoman ended their sponsorship, Dole the fruit and vegetable company took over. They renamed the restaurant Aloha Isle and it gained gave it a pineapple flavor.

History

Aloha Island opened on October 1, 1971 under the name the Veranda Juice Bar [1]. The Juice Bar was originality considered part of the Adventureland Veranda restaurant, with both locations being sponsored by Kikkoman (a Japanese soy sauce company) from 1977 until 1981. In 1981 however, Dole (the fruit and vegetable company) assumed sponsorship of the Juice Bar, although not the Adventureland Veranda itself[2]. At this time, the name of the Juice Bar was changed to Aloha Isle, and the menu of the establishment was altered to feature Dole products [2]

Aloha Island is known for its Dole Whip, A combination of vanilla soft serve and pineapple juice [3]. The Dole Whip has become a Magic Kingdom tradition for many guests and remains one of the more popular Magic Kingdom snacks.

On March 12, 2015 Aloha Isle and the Sunshine Tree Terrace switched locations in Adventureland. Following the switch, Aloha Isle kept its menu, although the restaurant was given new signage. The relocated Aloha Isle can be found next to the Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room [4].
