==Attraction History==
===Original Development===
The show that would eventually become Ellen's Energy Adventure was originally developed as a new attraction for Exxon's Universe of Energy pavilion. Although the Universe of Energy had been popular with guests at its onset, by 1996 attendance in the pavilion had dropped substantially. Furthermore, the information presented in the attraction was dated, and guests began to complain that the ride's tone was too serious <ref name= "book"> Pedersen, R.A. The EPCOT Explorer's Encyclopedia:. United States: Epcyclopedia, 2011. Print </ref>. With these problems in mind, Exxon and Disney agreed that the pavilion needed a new attraction, with Exxon asking that it be ready in time for the pavilion’s 15th anniversary in 1997 <ref name= "Martin"> http://www.martinsvids.net/?p=619 </ref>.
Ellen's Energy Adventure replaced In order to rejuvenate the [[World Universe of Motion (attraction)]] on September 15Energy pavilion, 1996. While Disney pitched the World idea of Motion took Ellen’s Energy Crisis, a more scientific approach to show that would still teach guests about energy, Ellen's Energy Adventure had but would do so with a much lighter , more comedic tone. When Ellen's Energy Adventure was constructed, it used Using the same theaters that were used in ride format (including the expansive Primeval Diorama) as the World original Universe of Motion. In factEnergy attraction, Ellen’s Energy Crisis would feature comedienne Ellen DeGeneres as the attraction followed the same structure as it's predecessor, and it even reused host. Disney estimated that the Dinosaur Diorama (although change from the dinosaurs were repainted and an Ellen DeGeneres Audio Anamatronic was added). Ellen's Universe of Energy Adventure stars Ellen DeGeneres, Billy Nyeto Ellen’s Energy Crisis would take five months, and Alex Trebek and Jamie Lee Curtis and with this in mind the attraction follows Ellen as she competes closed on Jeopardy and learns about energy. Since Disney could not use the actual Jeopardy setJanuary 21, a construction crew built a replica, although there are some minor differences1996 <ref name= "Martin"/>.
Although After the attraction has not seen many changesUniverse of Energy closed, it is important changes were made to note that when the attraction opened it was known as Ellen's infrastructure in order to accommodate Ellen’s Energy Crisis. DisneyIn the preshow theater, not wanting to take a political stand quickly changed the rotating Radok screens were taken out and replaced by five standard screens <ref name to Ellen's Energy Adventure= "Martin"/>. The only other real change came Initially, Disney had planned on reusing the Radok screens, as Bill Nye the Science Guy was to show DeGeneres a "kinetic energy mosaic". As the attraction in 2004continued to develop however, when ExxonMobile ended it's sponsorship of this idea was scrapped and the pavilionscreens were removed.
During the renovations, the pavilion's first theater received a brand new film and audio system. At this time, the theater's gold curtains were removed and replaced by stationary black curtains. Furthermore, the mirror walls that were used to reflect and multiply the images on the theater's three rear screens (giving the attraction's finale a seemingly endless scope) were removed and replaced with sound insulation <ref name="Martin"/>. Like the first theater, the second theater also got a new film, which combined new footage with recycled footage from the original attraction <ref name=Attraction Summary=="Martin"/>.
EllenMoving into the Primeval Diorama, the scene's Energy Adventure is storm effects were toned down and a 45 minute attraction with consists significant amount of four movies vegetation was added <ref name= "Martin"/>. At this time, the dinosaurs’ skin color was also changed based on new scientific findings <ref name= "Martin"/>. As far as the dinosaurs figures themselves were concerned, the Ornithomimus who was once drowning in a mud pit, was relocated and reprogrammed so that it now squirted guests with water <ref name= "Martin"/>. An Ellen DeGeneres Audio Animatronic also replaced a dark ridefish eating Pteranodon, and the Elasmosarus' programming was changed so that it now attacked Ellen, as opposed to attacking guests <ref name="Martin"/>. Finally, the quaking rock effect and the wave pool effect that were used in the scene were both deactivated <ref name="Martin"/>.
===Preshow FilmHybrid Attraction (1996)===Although initially planned for a Summer 1996 opening, delays in Burbank with the shooting and editing schedule for Ellen’s Energy Crisis' films, led Disney to realize that the attraction would not be ready on time <ref name= "book"/>. With the World of Motion already closed for refurbishment during the busy peak season, Disney decided that they would temporarily reopen the original Universe of Energy attraction, albeit it with Ellen’s Energy Crisis’ infrastructure still in place<ref name= "Martin"/>. This meant that beginning in June 1996, an attraction that was a combination of the original Universe of Energy and the incomplete Ellen's Energy Crisis ran in the Universe of Energy pavilion <ref name= "Martin"/>.
As guests enter The Universe of Energy/Ellen's Energy Crisis hybrid presented its own unique set of problems. Without the attractions first roomRadok screens, they can see a dark movie screen on the wallfirst preshow film did not achieve the effects that were initially intended. After everyone is in In the roomPrimeval Diorama, Ellen DeGeneres walks onto the screen dinosaurs had their new colors, and begins to talk to although the audience. new dialogue for Ellen introduces herself as the spokeswomen for the Universe of 's EnergyCrisis was muted, which she admits is somewhat surprisingthe attractions redone score played <ref name="newmartin"/>. Furthermore, the Ellen tells guests Audio Animatronic that while she is an expert on was installed in the Diorama was deactivated and hidden from guest's view behind a lot of things, not to long ago she could have cared less about energyboulder <ref name= "Martin"/>. She says This meant that one day everything changed as she the Elamoursaurs was watching TV in her apartmentnow attacking nothing. When she snaps her fingers (for a In the attraction's second time) we are transported back to her apartmenttheater, where we hear the TV announcer saying, monitors and maps that the ride narration referred to had already been removed <ref name= "This is ... Jeopardy!Martin"/>. As Ellen is watching JeopardyTo fix this, her neighbora new narration was installed that made the attraction seem more current, Bill Nye the Science Guy walks in. Bill says he came over while also omitting any references to borrow some foil for an experiment but soon enough he is watching the show with Ellen. The announcer tells guests that removed props<ref name= "Martin"/> and the first contestant is new "K-NRG" radio mast was hidden behind a professor of energy at Princeton University, named Dr. Judy Peterson. After Bill leaves, Ellen says that even if the universe needs energy, she doesn't, before she falls asleep/>.

The scene then shifts to Ellen's dream (or nightmare), which has her appearing on Jeopardy along with Dr. Judy Peterson and Albert Einstein.
