Enchanted Tales with Bell is an interactive meet and greet attraction in Fantasyland.

History

The concept for what would eventually become Enchanted Tales with Belle was announced at the D23 Expo in 2009, as a part of the Fantasyland Expansion announcement. At this time, Disney announced that in a part of "New Fantasyland", guests would be able to "dance with Cinderella; celebrate Sleeping Beauty's birthday with the Good Fairies; or join Belle in an enchanting story performance in the Beast's Castle library".

Although the plans for the Fantasyland Expansion changed and some of the other interactive character meet and greets were dropped, the interactive Belle meet and greet remained in the new land's plans. Enchanted Tales with Belle eventually opened for previews on November 19, 2012 before it officially opened on December 6, 2012

The Attraction

Enchanted Tales with Belle begins with guests wandering up the pathway to Maurice's cottage. On either side of the path, guests can see various parts from the inventors many inventions. After entering the cottage, guests can see various books as well as a portrait of a young Belle with her mother. Once inside, guests are broken up into small groups and let into Maurice’s workshop where they can see the inventor’s raw materials, tools, plans, models, and inventions. Also present in the workshop is a magic mirror which Beast gave to Maurice so he could visit Belle whenever he wanted. As guests look at the mirror, it is transformed into a portal which guests walkthrough to enter Beasts Castle on the day that Belle and the Beast fell in love.

Now inside the castle, guests come face to face with an interactive Madame Wardrobe who explains that she wants to surprise Belle with a re-enactment of “Beauty and the Beast” with the help of volunteer guests. At this point volunteers are chosen to act out the roles of: two suits of armor, the Beast, Maurice, Belle’s horse Phillippe, Mrs. Potts and Chip, Sultan the footstool, salt and pepper shakers, and Madame Wardrobe. After everyone has been assigned their role and given their prop, guests hear Lumiere calling them from inside the library. Heading the candelabra’s call, the entire group is admitted into the library.

Once inside the library, Lumiere tells everybody to sit down. After the lights dim he calls Belle into the room. At this point Belle enters, surprised by everyone’s presence. Lumiere tells Belle that he thought it would be fun to reenact the story of “Beauty and the Beast”. With the help of a cast member, Lumiere, and Belle, the group of guests who were chosen earlier then perform their lines in order to retell the story. After the story has finished (and everyone has sung and danced to “Be Our Guest”) guests can get their picture taken with the Belle. At the end of the attraction each guest receives a special bookmark given to them "in appreciation to mark the occasion". It should be noted that while guests cannot get Belle's autograph inside the attraction, the princess’s autograph can be found on the bookmark.
