The concept for what would eventually become Enchanted Tales with Belle was announced at the D23 Expo in 2009, as a part of the Fantasyland Expansion announcement <ref> http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/the-daily-disney/orl-bk-new-fantasyland-disney-world-magic-kingdom-story.html </ref>. At this time, Disney announced that in a as part of "New Fantasyland", guests would be able to "dance with Cinderella; celebrate Sleeping Beauty's birthday with the Good Fairies; or join Belle in an enchanting story performance in the Beast's Castle library" <ref> http://abc13.com/archive/7014627/ </ref>.
Although the plans for the Fantasyland Expansion changed and some of the other interactive character meet and greets were dropped<ref> http://www.insidethemagic.net/2012/08/new-fantasyland-evolution-walt-disney-world-modifies-concepts-artwork-while-magic-kingdom-expansion-takes-shape/ </ref>, the interactive Belle meet and greet remained in the new land's plans. Enchanted Tales with Belle eventually opened for previews on November 19, 2012 before it officially opened on December 6, 2012 <ref> http://touringplans.com/magic-kingdom/attractions/enchanted-tales-with-belle </ref>.
