The Golden Oak Outpost originally opened as Frontierland Fries in 1996. The stand was themed to look like a old west building. The restaurant's creation came out of an agreement between Disney and Mcdonalds McDonalds which allowed Mcdonalds McDonalds to sell their fries in select locations in Walt Disney World, with one of those locations being a new stand in Frontierland. Frontierland Fries initially sold Mcdonalds McDonalds fries and chicken nuggets along with other refreshments. The , before McDonalds contract signed by the two lasted for ten years, and when it ran up in 2007, the . After both parties chose not to renew it. Following the end of the contract, all references to Mcdonalds McDonalds were gradually removed from Walt Disney World(obviously including Frontierland Fries).
Frontierland Fries closed on September 27, 2008. In , and in early 2009, a new frie fry stand opened, now . Now named the Golden Oak Outpost. , The menu still consists of chicken and french French fries, although obviously not from McDonalds.
