Hollywood & Vine is a character dining restaurant in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

History

Hollywood & Vine opened in the then Disney-MGM Studios on May 1, 1989 [1]. Originally the restaurant operated as a "buffeteria" style restaurant, offering guest a quick and affordable place to eat. In 1998 however, the restaurant was refurbished, reopening on November 22, 1998 as Hollywood & Vine Cafateria of the Stars [2]. At this time, the restaurant became a character dining experience featuring Minnie and her friends [3]. This incarnation of the restaurant remained until March 23, 2003 when the characters were removed and Hollywood & Vine returned to a traditional family style meal (at this time the restaurant ceased to operate during breakfast) [4]. The removal of Minnie and other characters was short-lived however, as by 2005 characters had returned. On June 26, 2006, characters from the Playhouse Disney shoes JoJo's Circus and The Little Eisensteins began to appear at Hollywood & Vine for breakfast and lunch as part of the "Playhouse Disney's Play 'N Dine at Hollywood & Vine" [5]. They were later joined by Handy Manny.

In 2010 Special Agent Oso replaced JoJo and Goliath at Hollywood & Vine [6]. Subsequently, in 2011 Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates replaced Leo (from the Little Einsteins) [7]. In June 2014, Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins replaced Special Agent Oso and June (from The Little Einsteins) [8]. Beginning in 2014, Disney began offering a special character meal called "Jedi Mickey" during Star Wars Weekends [9]. Beginning January 4, 2015 Disney began featuring Minnie's Seasonal Dine for dinner at Hollywood & Vine. This special character dining experience was "designed to celebrating the magic of the movies and the glamour of Hollywood." [10]. True to its name, Minnie's Seasonal Dine changes its theme and menu depending on the season. Names for the season dinner parties include: Minnie's Silver Screen Dine, Minnie's Springtime Dine, Minnie's Summertime Dine, Minnie's Halloween Dine and Minnie’s Holiday Fantasmic! Dine [11].
