Changes

The Liberty Tree Tavern opened with the rest of the [[Magic Kingdom]] on October 1, 1971. On the park's opening day map the Liberty Tree Tavern was listed as [[Liberty Square]]’s only restaurant <ref> http://passport2dreams.blogspot.com/2010/10/shakedown-at-magic-kingdom.html </ref>. The Liberty Tree Tavern remained essentially the same until the early 1990s when the restaurant began having character dining during dinner<ref> http://florida-project.com/images/guidemaps/mk/magic-kingdom-guidemap-1995-november-05.jpg </ref> <ref> http://florida-project.com/images/guidemaps/mk/magic-kingdom-guidebook-1991-late-07.jpg </ref>. At this time, Chip, Dale, Goofy, Pluto and Minnie began meeting guests dressed in colonial costumes. Also in the 1990s, the Liberty Tree Tavern’s dining rooms were refurbished, and each room was dedicated to a specific American revolutionary<ref> http://passport2dreams.blogspot.com/2010/04/mr-franklins-travels.html </ref>. Following the refurbishment, the rooms were known as: the Benjamin Franklin Room, Thomas Jefferson Room, John Paul Jones Room, Betsy Ross Room, and the George and Martha Washington Room<ref> http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2010/03/14/liberty-tree-tavern-design-decor-and-delicious-dishes/ </ref>.

In 2010 the Liberty Tree Tavern received an extensive exterior refurbishment<ref> http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/liberty-tree-tavern/news/18apr2010-liberty-tree-tavern-under-exterior-refurbishment.htm </ref>. The restaurant remained operational during this time. Also in 2010, from January 3 until February 15, characters returned to the Liberty Tree Tavern (for breakfast, lunch and dinner) while the nearby [[Crystal Palace]] was closed for refurbishment<ref> http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2009/10/15/liberty-tree-tavern-character-meals-available-january-3-february-14-2010/ </ref>.
