Tusker House is a character dining location in the Africa section of Disney's Animal Kingdom.
History[edit]
Tusker House originally opened April 22, 1998 in the Africa section of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Although the restaurant originally opened as a counter service location [1], in 2007 it closed for refurbishment [2]. When Tusker House reopened in November 2007, it had changed formats to buffet dining [2]. Furthermore, following the refurbishment Disney began offering "Donald's Safari Breakfast", a character dining experience, for breakfast [3].
Over the years Disney added character dining to both lunch and dinner. On December 4, 2011, Disney introduced "Donald's Dining Safari Lunch", a new character dining lunch buffet [4]. Finally, on December 11, 2014, Disney introduced Donald's Safari Dinner, meaning that Tusker House now featured characters at all three meals [5].

Dawa Bar[edit]
Located adjacent to Tusker House is the Dawa Bar. This bamboo bar specializes in African wines and beers, including the signature Tusker Lager.
Fun Facts and Trivia[edit]
- Tusker House is designed to look like an African marketplace. Facades for various stores can be found on the second floor of the building [6].
- On the second floor of Tusker House, guests can see a facade for Jorodi Masks & Beads, a store that specializes in earrings. This is a reference to Imagineer Joe Rohde and the large earring he wears [7].
