On September 20, 2011, Disney announced that it would be teaming up with director James Cameron, to bring the world of his 2009 film AVATAR ''Avatar'' to life at Disney theme parks <ref> https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/09/avatar-coming-to-disney-parks/ </ref>. At this time, Disney announced that the first AVATAR themed land would be built at Disney's Animal Kingdom, due to both the park's and the film's focus on living in harmony with nature. When talking about the agreement, Cameron declared:
