===Walt Disney World===
When Walt Disney World’s Adventureland opened on October 1 1971, there was no Pirates of the Caribbean opened attraction to be found. Instead, Disney had planned on building the Western River Expedition in Adventureland in 1973Frontierland. Designed by Marc Davis, the Western River Expedition would have featured a boat ride (using the same ride design as Pirates) that would have taken guests through scenes in conjunction with the creation of Caribbean Plaza Old West. Disney initially planned on creating the Western River Expedition as an expansion opposed to Pirates of Adventureland. Caribbean Plaza gave the land a Caribbean theme it did , because they believed that people on the East Coast would not have before and housed be as interested in the new Pirates subject (due to the fact that pirates were a part of Florida’s history and thus part of the Caribbean attractionlocal lore). The ride is a boat voyage When the Magic Kingdom opened however, one of the most frequent questions that gives guests asked was “where are the pirates?” Heavily promoted on the Disneyland TV series, Disney quickly realized that there was a first hand view high demand for an East Coast version of Pirates of the pirate lifestyleCaribbean. While on their voyageDue to this demand, riders fall down a waterfall, float through Disney quickly authorized the middle construction of pirate ship battle and witness the looting Pirates of a the Caribbean townRide inside the Magic Kingdom. To do this, Disney scrapped its plans for the Western River Expedition and instead focused its resources on Pirates. Pirates of the Caribbean opened in Adventureland on December 15, 1973
The outside of the attraction is themed to look like a fort. A Barker Bird sat on a perch inviting guests to come to the attraction and sometimes singing parts of “Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me.” Once inside guests descend into underground caves before arriving at the loading docks.
No real changes came to Pirates of the Caribbean until 1997. In 1997 the scene which showed the pirates chasing the women of the town was altered. Instead of the Pirates chasing the women, the scene now showed the women chasing the Pirates. The other change that came in 1997 was in the “pooped pirate” scene. The “pooped pirate” is located right next to the women chasing the pirates. Originally he told his dog how he was too tired to continue to chase women while a women hid in a barrel behind him. In 1997 his dialogue was changed so that he now told his dog about his treasure map ("This map says X marks the spot, but I be seein' no X's afore me." ) and the women in the barrel was now holding a treasure chest.
