Singer-Songwriter Kal David was chosen as the voice of Sonny Eclipse<ref name= "wdwradio"/> . David was approached by George Wilkins, who had written a lot of music for Disney. Wilkins and David had previously worked together on the Wonders of Life attraction Goofy About Health<ref name= "wdwradio"/>. Wilkins wrote and recorded the music for Sonny Eclipse except for the guitar parts, which were written by David<ref name= "wdwradio"/> .
