The creation of Spice Road Table was announced on April 1, 2013 . At this time, it was revealed that the new waterfront restaurant would feature "various small plates and refreshments inspired by the cuisine of the Mediterranean". Shortly after the announcement, construction began in earnest on the new dining location . Finally, on January 11, 2014 Spice Road Table had its official opening . Although the restaurant has not seen any major changes, beginning December 2, 2014, Spice Road table began accepting reservations, due to its low attendance . At this time the restaurant also began accepting the Disney Dining Plan, and it received a new menu that focused on entree sized meals .

Fun Facts and Trivia
- According to Disney, Spice Road Table's facade is accented in icy shades of blue from the famous “Blue City” of Chefchaouen in Morocco’s Rif Mountains 
- Light fixtures, tilework, tapestries and art representing Morocco’s indigenous Berber tribes are featured throughout the restaurant .
- Many of the seats, both outside and inside Spice Road Table, afford guests a view of Illuminations.
