The history of what would eventually be known as The Barnstormer Featuring Goofy as the Great Goofini began in 1988 with the creation of Mickey’s Starland. Within Mickey’s Starland a petting zoo known as Grandma Duck's Petting Farm could be found <ref> http://www.lostepcot.com/birthdayland.html </ref>. The small petting zoo featured various animals which were housed within a large barn. When Mickey’s Starland was replaced with Mickey’s Toontown Fair in 1996, the barn that had once been a part of Grandma Duck’s Petting Farm was incorporated into a new small steel roller coaster titled The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm <refname= "yesterland"> http://www.yesterland.com/barnstormer.html </ref>.
The Barnstormer (as most fans called it) was a one minute, gentle roller coaster that allowed guests to board Goofy’s self-designed “Multiflex Octoplane” (an airplane), and follow a flight path that he had previously flown <ref> http://2719hyperion.blogspot.com/2006/12/goofys-barnstormer.html </ref>. Along the way guests would twist and turn, even “crashing” into a barn at full speed. In keeping with the rest of Mickey’s Toontown Fair, The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm had a rural theme to it <ref> http://www.yesterland.com/barnstormer.html </ref>.
