The original incarnation of The Lunching Pad opened in 1972 across from the [[Grand Prix Raceway]]. This first incarnation of the Lunching Pad sold predominantly salads and sandwiches. At this time, the building that today houses The Lunching Pad was known as the Space Bar <ref> http://passport2dreams.blogspot.com/2010/10/shakedown-at-magic-kingdom.html</ref>. Located at the base of the [[WEDWay PeopleMover]], the Space Bar sold refreshments and snacks <ref>http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/id84.htm</ref>.
