Toy Story Land is land in Disney's Hollywood Studios
This new 11-acre land will transport guests into the adventurous outdoors of Andy’s backyard. Guests will think they’ve been shrunk to the size of Woody and Buzz as they are surrounded by oversized toys that Andy has assembled using his vivid imagination.
Using toys like building blocks, plastic buckets and shovels, and game board pieces, Andy has designed the perfect setting for this land, which will include two new attractions for any Disney park and one expanded favorite - Toy Story Mania.
In addition to the aforementioned Toy Story Mania, Imagineer Kathy Mangum announced that two new attractions would fill out the land. The first would be a family roller coaster named Slinky Dog Dash, while the other attraction was the Alien Swirling Saucers, a spinning attraction similar to Mater's Junkyard Jamboree in Disneyland.
When Disney released new concept art for Toy Story Land in April of 2016, there were some notable differences. Most noticeably, some of the more elaborate scenes on Slinky Dog Dash had been removed. Furthermore, during this period it seems as if Al's Toy Barn and a Woody themed western area were cut from the plan .
After a series of "soft openings" Toy Story Land was officially dedicated on June 29, 2018 . On hand for the event was Disney Chairman of Parks Bob Chapek and Tim Allen (who voices Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise) . Finally, on June 30, 2018, Toy Story Land opened to guests . In addition to the land's three main attractions- Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania, Toy Story Land also houses Woody's Lunch Box, a quick service restaurant which features Mini Babybel products.
As mentioned above, the premise of Toy Story Land is that guests are “honorary toys” who have also been shrunk down to the size of a toy, as they they explore Andy's backyard. The backstory of the land's attractions and restaurant involve Andy setting up both the playsets that guests enter, as well as the toys found throughout the land, using his imagination.
Slinky Dog Dash-On this family coaster, guests ride around Andy's backyard on a track built from his Mega Coaster Play Kit. Along the way, they see many familiar faces including Wheezy, Rex, Jesse and more!
Toy Story Mania!- A 4D attraction that lets guests play classic Midway games in a whole new way. Featuring characters from the Toy Story franchise, this attraction allows guests to actually enter midway games while they play them.
Alien Swirling Saucers-Set inside a playset that Andy won at Pizza Planet, guests can board their rocket ships for a spin through space.
Woody's Lunch Box- Themed to look like Andy's Lunch Box, this quick service dining location sells American classics and Toy Story themed food. Woody's Lunch Box features Mini Babybel products.
Sarge and his Green Army Patrol- Join Sarge and the Green Army Patrol in an "interactive boot camp" featuring games such as "Sarge Says". This interactive show is performed throughout Toy Story Land.
The Green Army Drum Corps- This percussion band marches and plays through Toy Story Land multiple times each day!
