The Universe A pavilion which focused on energy was included in many of Energy pavilion opened with the rest of early EPCOT Center in on October 1, 1982designs. The pavilion was sponsored by ExxonInitially, and it focused on the various energies that humans use, and how they have evolved over time. The entire roof of the Universe of Energy Pavilion pavilion’s focus was covered with 80on solar energy,000 photovoltaic with plans for a large solar cells (solar panels) which helped energy "collector" to power the Universe of Energy attraction be located inside. Although the attraction was the only one in the pavilionbuilding's center, it around which a complex attraction that would feature unguided cars and a walkthrough portion would be constructed. Eventually however this design was deemed too complicated and the longest attraction in all of Epcot. The Universe of Energy consisted of three separate partsplans were scratched. This changed however on January 20, 1996 when Exxon decided to update the attractionpavilion closed for a major refurbishment. The attraction reopened as Ellen's Energy Crisis (although Although the name was quickly changed to Ellen's Universe of Energy Adventure) and though had been quite popular when it now stared comedian Ellen DeGeneresopened, by the basic structure mid-1990s the pavilion’s popularity had waned. In line with the rest of Future World pavilions, Exxon wanted the Universe of Energy to get a new attraction remained in time for the samepavilion’s 15th anniversary in 1997. At this time, the mosaic tiles were also removed from the exterior’s back wall. Since the opening of Ellen’s Energy Adventure in which Bill Nye and Ellen take 1996, the Universe of Energy Pavilion has seen relatively few changes. In September of 2001, a look at new sign was added outside of the various forms pavilion. Then, in 2003 Exxon and Mobil merged, and became joint sponsors of energy around the worldpavilion. At this time, all references to the conclusion company both outside and within the Universe of Energy were updated to reflect this change. In 2004 however ExxonMobil chose not to renew their sponsorship of the filmpavilion, guests are taken back and thus all references to the first theater, where guests watch a two minute conclusion of Ellen's Jeopardy dreamcompany were removed.
