When the park first opened, what currently constitutes as the Discovery Island Trails was actually two separate attractions attractions- the Safari Village Trail and the Tree of Life Gardens <ref> http://www.florida-project.com/images/guidemaps/dak/disneys-animal-kingdom-guidemap-1998-june-05.jpg </ref>.
