The restaurant that is today known as Katsura Grill originally opened on October 1, 1982 as Yakitori House <ref name= "D23"> https://d23.com/a-to-z/yakitori-house/ </ref>. Located within a Japanese Garden, Yakitori House was namaed after a chicken dish served in the restaurant <ref name= "D23"/>. The Yakitori House closed in 2011 and underwent extensive refurbishments <ref> http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/yakitori-house/news/19oct2011-photos---yakitori-house-refurbishment-update-at-epcot's-japan-pavilion.htm </ref>.
