The creation of Spice Road Table was announced on April 1, 2013 <ref name= "announce"> https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2013/04/new-eatery-for-morocco-pavilion-in-world-showcase-at-epcot/ </ref>. At the time it was announced that the new waterfront restaurant would feature "various small plates and refreshments inspired by the cuisine of the Mediterranean"<ref name= "announce"/>. Shortly after the announcement, construction began in earnest on the new dining location <ref. http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/spice-road-table/news/02apr2013-photos---construction-walls-up-for-morocco's-new-restaurant-'spice-road-table'.htm </ref>. Finally, on January 11, 2014 Spice Road Table had its official opening <ref> https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/galleries/2014/01/spice-road-table-soft-opens-official-opening-date-coming-soon/ </ref>. Although the restaurant has not seen any major changes, beginning December 2, 2014, Spice Road table began accepting reservations, due to its low attendence <ref> http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/spice-road-table/news/21nov2014-spice-road-table-transitions-from-walkup-only-to-reservation-system.htm </ref>.
