While President of Imagineering Bob Chapek noted that At the film would be updatedtime, it the Awesome Planet was not clear at this time whether this change would be described as, "an update to on-screen exploration of the pavilion's current attraction O'Canadarealm we call home, or a new film entirely(which) showcases the spectacular beauty, diversity and dynamic story of our earth with all the grandeur guests have come to expect" <ref name="parksblog"/>.

Further information on the new film was given in December of 2019era, when Disney revealed that the new film would feature wanted to give guests a new musical score by composer Andrew Lockington and a narration by actors Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy <ref> https://disneyparksmore optimistic message.disney.go.com/blog/2019/12/beauty-and-the-beast-sing-along-other-new-films-debut-at-epcot-january-17/ </ref>. When choosing the narrators, Imagineer Tom Fizgerald Fitzgerald noted that the tone of the film was different then the previous version of O' Canada. While Martin Short had given the previous film a comedic tone, this new film was written as a "love letter" to Canada <ref name="laughing"> https://www.laughingplace.com/w/articles/2020/01/14/interview-with-wdis-tom-fitzgerald-and-marie-colabelli-about-three-new-epcot-shows-canada-far-wide-awesome-planet-beauty-and-the-beast-sing-along/ </ref>.
When talking about the decision to update O' Canada, Imagineer Marie Colabelli further noted that Disney felt that since the film had not been updated since 2006, Disney felt that the changes in the country over the last decade warranted a new film <ref name="laughing"/>. When discussing the filming of Canada Far and Wide, Colabelli explained: {{Quotation|“We spent a good portion of one year scouting so when we decided need to actually film in a location, we knew what was the shot that we wanted give to get. And then when we actually went onto location and we did a full execution of the shot, in past iterations audience is an optimistic message of the film they had a very finite amount of time to get into a helicopterhope for our planet. We worked with Jane Goodall, get the shot, and if they didn’t get the shot then they had to rethink it. With digitalSylvia Earl, we had so many opportunities , many experts thanks to reset the airour DisneyNature team bringing in these people to help us with messaging.. .. It totally fits in The greatest part Land pavilion, it totally fits with Epcot’s message of an optimistic celebration of this project is we set out our world, but also a call to get one shot and usually came home with many, many more. So that was great action for our camera team.”future"<ref name="laughing"> https://www.laughingplace.com/w/articles/2020/01/14/interview-with-wdis-tom-fitzgerald-and-marie-colabelli-about-three-new-epcot-shows-canada-far-wide-awesome-planet-beauty-and-the-beast-sing-along/ </ref>.}}
