Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak Station is an attraction located in Fantasyland
Attraction Description and History
Although eventually a part of the Storybook Circus section of the 2012 Fantasyland Expansion, when the plans for the expansion were initially made public, a Casey Jr. attraction was not present. Instead, the area that Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak would eventually be constructed on was to be used for Pixie Hollow (a Tinkerbell and friends meet and greet location) [1]. As plans for the Fantasyland Expansion continued to develop however, Pixie Hollow was removed and Storybook Circus was doubled in area. These new plans called for the construction of a water play area based on Casey Jr. from the Disney film "Dumbo" [1].
On June 15, 2012 the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station opened to guests (although its official opening date was not until December 6, 2012) [2]. The attraction is a water play area that features Casey Jr. and a group of animals including monkeys, elephants and camels, which spray guests with water.
Fun Facts and Trivia
- Each of the four train cars found on Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station are numbered. These numbers correspond to a year that one of Walt Disney World’s theme parks opened (71= The Magic Kingdom, 82= EPCOT Center, 89= Disney-MGM Studios, and 98= Disney's Animal Kingdom) [3].
- When looking at the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station, guests can see a mural which advertises the Storybook Circus Clowns. The clowns in the mural are wearing fire hats with the number five on them. This is a tribute to The Firehouse Five Plus Two, a Dixieland jazz band which was made up of members of the Walt Disney Studios' animation department [4]. Notable band members included Disney Legends Harper Goff, Ward Kimball and Frank Thomas [5].
