Backstory

According to Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama’s backstory, Chester and Hester initially owned a small gas station near the main highway. Their lives changed however when in 1947 amateur fossil-hunters found dinosaur bones in the area. Shortly after the find, scientist and grad students flooded the area and the Dino Institute was founded. In order to capitalize on archeological find as others around them had, Chester and Hester began to sell souvenirs at their gas station. After realizing that they were making more money selling merchandise then gasoline, the couple decided to turn the gas station into a shop called "Chester and Hester's Dinosaur Treasures".

Further capitalizing on their success, Chester and Hester eventually decided to erect an amusement park across the street from their store. It is at this amusement park, “Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama” that guests can find the Fossil Fun Games.

Attraction History and Description

The carnival style games that would eventually be called the Fossil Fun Games actually opened to guests in DinoLand USA as simply "Midway Games" on November 1, 2001 as part of the Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama expansion. On March 31, 2002 however the area was renamed Fossil Fun Games. The carnival style games are themed to fit in with the rest of the Chester and Hester area. Since the attraction opened it has not experienced any major changes.

Note:In order to play the Fossil Fun Games guests must purchase coupons from Chester and Hester's Dinosaur Treasures, the nearby souvenir stand, or from a stroller vendor.

Whac-A-Packccephalosaur- This "whack-a-mole" style game allows guests to hit small dinosaurs as they pop up.

Fossil Fueler- This water-squirt game is themed as a dinosaur gas station. The first guest to fill their “gas tank” wins. Fossil Fueler fits in with Chester and Hester’s backstory which tells about the couple owning a gas station before constructing their shop and amusement park. Seven guests can play Fossil Fueler at a time.

Mammoth Marathon- In this game guests roll balls into holes (with varying points awarded) in order to race their wooly mammoth against other guests. Sixteen guests can play Mammoth Marathon at a time.

Bronto-Score- In this game guests shoot basketballs into a hoop in order to win a prize. Seven guests can play Bronto-Score at a time.

Comet Crasher- In this game guests toss "comets” into floating goblets. If guests land one in the goblet they win a prize. Eight guests can play Comet Crasher at a time.

Dino-Whamma- This mallet strength game lets guests see how strong they are. The categories that guests can fall under include (from lowest to highest): Wimposaur, Biceptoraptor, Brawnosaurus, and Triceps-A-Tops
