The Lotus Blossom Cafe opened on September 24, 1985 . When the restaurant opened, it was the first counter service dining location to be located within the China pavilion. The Lotus Blossom Cafe was originally designed with traditional Chinese theming . The chairs and tables located within the restaurant appeared to be made out of bamboo, and the ordering area had a rural motif . In 2007, the Lotus Blossom Cafe closed for a major refurbishment . When the restaurant reopened, it featured a new modern look, giving guests the feeling that they were in a cosmopolitan area of China . At this time, the Lotus Blossom Cafe also got a slightly altered menu .
