Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts and Barbecue is a counter service restaurant in the American Adventure (Pavilion) at Epcot.

Restaurant History

The Regal Eagle Smokehouse was originally announced on June 17, 2019, as a replacement for the American Adventure pavilion's Liberty Inn [1]. At this time, the attraction was described as:

"A modern barbecue smokehouse, with all the accompanying sights, sounds, smells and flavors you love – including a large smoker preparing fine food every day right on the pavilion’s promenade. There will also be a redesigned patio."[1]

As part of the restaurant's redesign, the Regal Eagle Smokehouse was given an outdoor bar and expanded exterior seating, as well as a remodeled dining room[1].

On January 3, 2020, Disney announced that the the Regal Eagle Smokehouse would be named after the Muppet's Sam the Eagle an given a Muppet theme [2]. Furthermore, Disney released that the restaurant's signage would prominently feature Sam the Eagle's visage.

On February 19, 2020, the Regal Eagle Smokehouse : Craft Drafts and Barbecue officially opened [3]. True to its name, the restaurant serves classic American BBQ dishes from all over the country.

On February 21, 2020, the restaurant's archway and entrance sign featuring Sam the Eagle were installed [4].

Backstory

According to the Regal Eagle's Smokehouse's backstory, the restaurant has been chosen by Sam the Eagle for his "Sam's Centennial Cook-Off: A Salute to All Cook-Offs but Mostly Barbecue", which has brought barbecuers from all of America's various regions to compete for the top honor. The event is advertised within the restaurant as "A Competition Fit For Patriots and Pit Masters".

Fun Facts and Trivia

  • As seen by a picture and certificate on the wall, the Muppets Janice, Rowlf, and Bobo have entered Sam's BBQ competition.
  • When sitting on the restaurant's outdoor patio, guests can see the Regal Eagle Smokehouse's cooker.
