Toy Story Land was initially announced on August 15, 2015 at the D23 Expo as a new land coming to [[Disney's Hollywood Studios]] <Ref name= "wdwmagic">https://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/toy-story-land/news/15aug2015-toy-story-land-announced-for-disneys-hollywood-studios.htm</ref>. At this time, Disney stated:

In addition to the aformentioned Toy Story Mania, Imagineer Kathy Mangum announced that two new attractions would fill out the land. The first the Slinky Dog coaster, a family roller coaster. The second announced attraction was the Alien Swirling Saucer attraction, a spinning attraction similar to Manyard's Junkyard Jamboree in Disneyland.
