The original plans for the Asia expansion in Animal Kingdom called for When Disney Imagineers were originally designing Disney's MGM Studios, they wanted to give guests an Asian safari ride to counterbalance the [[Kilimanjaro Safaris]] in Africaidea of how a working movie studio ran. In order to differentiate the attraction howeverdo this, Imagineers decided to make created a Backlot Tour for the ride a rafting safaripark. The attractionthat they created, which was called a two-hour tour known as the Tiger Rapid Run, would have been similar to Walt Disney's Studio Backlot Tour. The original concept for tour consisted of a tram ride with stops at The Production Center, Costuming, The Scenic Shop, Residential Street, New Your Street, Catastrophe Canyon, and "the [[Jungle Cruise]]bone yard". Guests would have boarded large yellow rafts which would be held together in groups. As Following the tram tour guests floated through would embark on the Asian jungleswalking portion of the Backlot Tour. Here, they would observe animals such as the Indian Rhinoceroscould watch demonstrations showing how special effects are created, followed by a tour of various sets. After touring the Asian Elephantsound stages, guests would reach the Asian Antelope and various other creatures. Other scenes on "Making of" portion of the attraction were to include an Indian palace, which was a scene depicting vicious deforestationtour of the set of Disney's latest movie. Finally, guests reached The Walt Disney Theater where they watched film called "Michael and the finale Mickey" which called for the rafts to separate from each other before sending guests down thrilling white water rapidspreviewed upcoming Disney films. During Shortly after the planning attraction opened, Disney decided that it would need to be shortened. The Disney MGM Studios did not have enough attractions for all of the Tiger Rapid Runguests in the park, so Imagineers decided that they could break up the screams Backlot Tour. In late 1989, the New York Street portion of guests going to down the river rapids would frighten the animals showcased in the attractionwas removed, and also that in order to give guests would be moving too fast on the rapids to really observe more walking space in the animalspark. The Tiger Rapid Run walking part of the tour was then renamed known as Inside the Kali River Rapids (after Magic: Special Effects and Production Tour.  In 1995, Inside the Hindu goddess KaliMagic as renamed Backstage Pass before finally being closed in 2001. The soundstages that were formally held in the attraction were later used to house [[Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Live on Stage]] and [[Toy Story Mania]]. Inside New York Street was designed to represent the shopNew York cityscape, guests can browse through Mr. Panika's huge inventory including a reproduction of (mostly animal) related merchandisethe Washington Square Park memorial.
