The genesis of the restaurant that would eventually be What today is known as Tony's Town Square began during the planing Plaza Restaurant was originally a part of the [[Magic KingdomPlaza Ice Cream Parlor]]. 1970 blueprints for the location indicate that it was originally earmarked for when the "Coffee Mill Restaurant" Magic Kingdom opened on October 1, 1971 <ref name= "widenpassport"> http://wwwpassport2dreams.omniluxeblogspot.netcom/wyw2013/hsphouse03/snapshot-plaza-ice-cream-boat-shuffle.htm html </ref>. These plans were eventually changed however, From 1971 until 1976 this restaurant featured an ice cream parlor and when the park opened on October 1a seating area <ref name= "passport"/>. In 1977, 1971 the restaurant was known as divided in two, with the Town Square Cafe sponsored by Oscar-Mayerparlor and seating area each becoming their own seperate entities <ref name= "widenpassport"/>.
