Electric Umbrella is a counter service restaurant located within Innoventions in Epcot
History
The restaurant that is today known as the Electric Umbrella originally opened as "Stargate" with the rest of EPCOT Center on October 1, 1982 [1]. Located in CommuniCore East, Stargate was a counter service restaurant that served breakfast, lunch and dinner [2].
On April 10, 1994, Stargate closed for refurbishment as part of CommuniCore's transition to Innoventions [3]. Following renovations, the dining location reopened on June 24 as the "Electric Umbrella" [3]. Although the restaurant was aesthetically updated at this time, it retained the same layout [4]. Since reopening as the Electric Umbrella, the dining location has not seen any major changes.
In 2017, Disney began offering mobile ordering at the Electric Umbrella [5].
In July 2019, Disney announced that the Electric Umbrella would be permanently closing in the winter, with its last listed day of operation being November 23, 2019 [6].
