Living With The history of what would eventually be known as Listen to the Land was opened with began when Kraft announced that it would sponsor The Land pavilion on October 1, 1982 as ''Listen To The Land'in Disney's unbuilt theme park: EPCOT Center. The attraction was designed to be an open topped boat ride through simulated habitats. Listen To The Land was Original designs for the pavilion had been created with the idea that it a logging company would "Part Disney ride be sponsoring the pavilion, however when the company pulled out, both the design of the pavilion and part educational"the attractions that would be housed within it were changed dramatically. After With the tour focus of the pavilion now on agricultural, Imagineers created an open top boat ride that would take guests through the earth's many habitats, showing man’s effect on them. Still inside their boat, the second half of the attraction would allow guests were shown to tour a working research centergreenhouse that showcased new agricultural technologies and techniques. The University During the development of Arizona Environmental Researchers Listen to the Land, two major changes took place. The first was the fact that the greenhouses were brought in as consultants on added to the attraction, which also included too permanently (originally as opposed to being the temporarystructures they were originally envisioned as) greenhouses. The second change was addition of a canopy to the boats themselves. When Imagineers decided to add real rain effects to the attraction, the boats were covered. Listen to the Land opened with the rest of The Land pavilion on EPCOT Center’s opening day, October 1, 1982.

The attraction had it's soft opening on September 28, 1982 and it's grand opening, along with the rest Epcot on October 1, 1982. Listen to the Land remained the same unchanged, until 1993 when Nestle took over assumed sponsorship of pavilion. The attraction was renamed Living With the LandPavilion in 1993. On September 23, 1993, Listen to the Land was closed for refurbishment (the rest of the pavilion would also be systematically updated over the next year and a half). During the renovation, the Symphony of the Seed opening scene was removed, and closing scenes were changedthe rainforest scene was expanded. In 2004 Furthermore, an automatic narration was installed for the first half of the attraction received FastPASS booths, although they are currently not operationaland the ride's theme song "Listen to the Land" was removed. Finally, on August 20the Symphony of the Seed recap that concluded the original attraction was taken out and replaced with a collage of people and agriculture from all over the world. On December 10, 1993, the attraction reopened as Living with the Land. Following the changes in 1993, little of note changed with the attraction until 2006. At this time, the Cast Member narrators boat captains were removed from the attractionand replaced by a new automatic narrator voiced by Mike Brassell. On August 1, in favor of an automated narration2011 Chiquita Brands International announced it would be sponsoring Living with the Land.
