Biography [1]
Sonny Eclipse is originally from Yew Nork on the planet Zork and is known as the “Biggest Little Star in the Galaxy”. Sonny is the current house singer in the Starlight Lounge Room at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, where he entertains guests with his “bossa supernova and eclipso musical stylings on the Astro Organ”. During his performances, Sonny is backed up by the invisible Space Angels, who joined his act after his original background singers did not show up for a performance on Mars. In between stays at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, Sonny performs at weddings and night clubs all over the galaxy.
While at Cosmic Ray’s, Sonny plays a twenty minute set consisting of eight songs. During his act, the alien also tells jokes and gives guests a little information about his life. Before performing the song "Bright Little Star" for example, Sonny informs guests that his girlfriend has six eyes and twelve nostrils (she has 20/20/20/20/20/19 vision).
Set List
Sonny Eclipse plays a 25 minute set consisting of eight songs [1]. The songs performed by Sonny are:
- My Name is Sonny Eclipse
- Bossa Supernova

- Hello Space Angels
- Yew Nork, Yew Nork
- Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe song (sometimes referred to as Starlight Soup and Salad)
- Oh Bright Little Star
- Planetary Boogie
Behind the Scenes
The voice of Sonny Eclipse is performed by singer-songwriter Kal David, who was approached by Disney producer Geroge Wilkins about performing the role. Wilkins and David had previously worked together on the Wonders of Life attraction Goofy About Health. Wilkins wrote and recorded the music for Sonny Eclipse except for the guitar parts, which were written by David[2] . The duo then recorded the vocals in Wilkins' home studio [2].
The Space Angels (Sonny's backup singers) were voiced by The Brunettes, a group which included David's girlfriend Lorrie[2] . When recording their harmonies, The Brunettes were in a vocal booth that was also occupied by Wilkins' washer and dryer, creating a tight squeeze[2] .
The Audio Animatronic figure that would become Sonny Eclipse was a modified version of the Audio Animatronic Officer Zzzzyxxx, who was the baggage screener at Tokyo Disneyland's Star Tours [3].

Fun Facts and Trivia
- The Astro Organ can play itself when it wants to [1]
- If guests visit the Metrophone booth in Tomorrowland, they can have a one-sided phone call with Sonny's agent Johnny Jupiter [4].
- Sonny Eclipse's technician and announcer is Mike Feedback [5]. Since Sonny's stage is above another stage that rises from below, when a live act is set to perform in Cosmic Ray's, Sonny and his stage will actually rise into the ceiling to make way for the new act [5]. At this time, Mike Feedback will tell Sonny that its time to take five. When the live act is finished, Sonny will descend from the ceiling and Mike will announce him to the audience [5]. Both of these dialogues are rare as Sonny is not often replaced by a live act.
- When announcing Sonny, Mike Feedback says:
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Cosmic Ray is proud to present the biggest little star in the galaxy. Direct from Yew Nork City on the planet Zork, put your hands together for Sonny Eclipse and the amazing Astro Organ!" [5]
When a live act is about to replace Sonny, the alien will say:
Well, I can see my old buddy Mike Feedback, the technician up there in the control booth, is giving me the signal to take five. Now don’t go away, because we have some very special entertainment to follow.[5]
